The University of Cologne Summer School in “Natural and Cultural Heritage” is organised under the guidance of Professor Dr. Peter Dannenberg & Dr. Alexander Follmann along with ten students from Department of Geography, University of Cologne.

The Indian Strategic Indian partner of UoC is Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi. The theme of the Summer school is in the field of megacity of Delhi. The summer school explores the natural and cultural heritage of Delhi with a special focus on the floodplain of the river Yamuna and peri-urban areas of the mega-city. The thematic focus lies on the expansion and intensification of urban and peri-urban agriculture. An intensification and commercialization of urban and peri-urban agriculture appears to result in socio-economic and socio-ecological transformations. The seminars and fieldwork focus on methodological skills (qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis, etc.) and aims for a joint publication of results. The specific research topics are developed jointly with the participant students and faculties from JNU, Delhi and UoC.

The Summer School “Natural and Cultural Heritage” in Delhi is part of the Thematic Network “Remapping the Global South” of the Global South Studies Center (GSSC), Cologne.
