Nine German Universities among the Hundred Most Innovative in the World!

Nine German universities have made it to the Reuters’ ranking of the World’s Most Innovative Universities this year. The list “identifies and ranks the educational institutions doing the most to advance science, invent new technologies and power new markets and industries.”

Germany thus ranks second worldwide in the list of countries with the highest number of innovative universities. The first place is occupied by the United States of America, with 46 universities making it to the reputed ranking.

The nine most innovative German universities (based on the number of patents applied for and research articles cited)  are:

  1.  University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (14th place)
  2. Technical University of Munich (46th place)
  3. University of Heidelberg (59th place)
  4. University of Mainz (70)
  5. LMU Munich (75)
  6. TU Dresden (79)
  7. University of Freiburg (82)
  8. RWTH Aachen University (89)
  9. TU Berlin (94)
