Integrated Engineering for Future Mobility Workshop

The workshop will address the topic of future mobility from an integrated perspective. The main aim is to connect researchers and enable an interdisciplinary discourse to generate ideas for future international research cooperation projects.

Besides short presentations (Day 1) the method of design thinking will be used to generate new ideas and interdisciplinary research questions (Day 2). Furthermore, the participants will attend and contribute to the Indo-German Forum: Sustainable Urban Mobility (Days 3 and 4) and will receive a comprehensive overview of funding schemes for cooperation projects (Day 5).

Duration: 20. – 24. March 2022

Reducing the output of greenhouse gas emissions is one of the most critical responses to climate change. In this context, mobility plays a significant role worldwide. Changes towards sustainable mobility will only succeed if technological developments from different fields are integrated. The interplay between technological development and societal mobility needs to be understood and taken into account. Against this backdrop, the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New Delhi together with the German Universities of Technology (TU9) university consortia, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) are organizing in March 2023 an interdisciplinary workshop for early career researchers from India and Germany.

Why participate?
The interdisciplinary workshop provides the participants an opportunity to:

  • Present one’s research to a selected group of excellent early career researchers.
  • Identify together with peers’ future research pathways in the field
  • Discuss and develop innovative ideas
  • Get first-hand insights into the funding schemes for Indo-German research cooperation projects
  • Onsite networking over five days with peers & researchers

Which themes will be discussed?
The subthemes of the workshop are open and could include:

  • Development of new technologies
  • Adaptation and diffusion of technologies
  • Autonomous driving
  • Integrated energy grids
  • Market interactions
  • Green energy for vehicles
  • New business models
  • System integration and modelling
  • others

Who can apply?
Early career researchers including postdocs, junior group leaders, and junior & associate professors only at the TU9 universities (Germany), IIT Delhi (India) and CSIR (India). The participants should be working on or have a research interest in the field of urban mobility and have research background from:

  • Electrical engineering
  • Civil engineering
  • Mobility systems engineering
  • Manufacturing
  • Materials Research
  • Energy management
  • Power system economics
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Technology assessments and system analysis
  • Others

Date and format:
The workshop will be organised as an onsite event from 20.-24. March 2023 in New Delhi. It will be hosted at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

Participation cost:
The organizers will cover the transport costs and accommodation for the participants.
