Project description

Among all the partnership projects between Freie Universität Berlin and our Indian partners, one of the most valuable co-operations is with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). JNU was granted funding in 2016 for 4 years as part of the Indo-German Partnerships (IGP) in Higher Education program, sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The funding supports projects between Freie Universität and JNU Delhi.
Researchers and graduate students at Freie Universität can apply for funding to support research or study at JNU for short or long-term stays. The financial support serves the larger goal of strengthening academic and scientific exchange between these institutions by creating new connections. This project has successfully achieved the following purposes:
• Initiation of new research collaborations with existing or new partners
• Preparing joint applications for third-party funding with existing partners
• Participation in research workshops and conferences
• Short research and teaching stays
• Initiation of new collaborations in the form of exploratory fact-finding missions.
• Training visits for program managers and administrative staff

Strong connections between FUB and JNU Professors has strengthened over the period and now they are also part of one of the FUB excellence cluster namely “The Cluster of Excellence 2020 “Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective”.
