Indo-German Research Cooperation Projects

Indo-German research cooperation has a long-standing history that spans over six decades. After the USA, Germany  has slowly become India’s most important strategic partner in science and technology cooperation.

Research cooperation between India and Germany not only boasts a broad spectrum of fields across the life, physical, and social sciences, but also encompasses a variety of formats, activities, and institutions including ministries, government departments, funding bodies, universities, and research and technology organisations and clusters. While the exchange of young scholars and scientists has been steadily intensifying over the years, jointly funded research projects  have also contributed significantly to the strengthening of ties between Indian and German science communities.

Below is a (non-exhaustive) list of some of the bilateral research projects between India and Germany.

CCRBF - Expansion of the Indo-German Competence Centre for Riverbank Filtration

The 7 German and 8 Indian partners of the CCRBF consortium will strengthen educational and research cooperation between Germany and India focusing on natural water treatment techniques of riverbank filtration (RBF), managed aquifer recharge (MAR) and constructed wetlands (CW).
