Launch of Virtual talk Series - ICAS:MP Dialogues

ICAS:MP launched a new series of talks titled ‘ICAS:MP Dialogues’ with a kick-off event including Charles Taylor, Rajeev Bhargava and Hartmut Rosa.

The M.S. Merian – R. Tagore International Centre of Advanced Studies ‘Metamorphoses of the Political’ (ICAS:MP) just launched a new series of virtual talks titled  ‘ICAS:MP Dialogues’. In these online debates, scholars associated with ICAS:MP invite guests to discuss relevant contemporary topics related to the research programme of the centre.

The first ICAS:MP dialogue took place on 8 February 2021 on the topic of ‘Deep Diversity in Politics, Religion and Selfhood, and a Shared Sense of Belonging’ with the eminent political philosophers Professor Charles Taylor, Professor Rajeev Bhargava, and the sociologist Prof. Hartmut Rosa. The panel discussed the implications and ramifications of ‘deep diversity’ and explored the possibilities and preconditions of creating a shared, democratic space of ‘resonance’ across the various divides.

ICAS:MP is an Indo-German research collaboration of six Indian and German institutions funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The centre combines the benefits of an open, interdisciplinary forum for intellectual exchange with the advantages of a cutting-edge research centre. Located in New Delhi, ICAS:MP critically intervenes in global debates in the social sciences and humanities. The centre generates sustainable research cooperation among leading social science and humanities scholars from India, Germany and other countries who investigate similar research problems rather than necessarily the same region.
