Helmholtz Career Day for Data Science 2025

Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy is organizing a virtual Helmholtz Career Day for Data Science 2025, a free-of-charge event that connects international Data Scientists and experts in Information Technology (IT) with exciting opportunities in research at Germany’s 18 Helmholtz Centers.

The Helmholtz Centers are part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, Germany’s largest scientific organization conducting cutting-edge research in fields such as energy, earth and environment, health, information, matter, and aeronautics, space, and transport.

The event provides a unique opportunity to explore research jobs in data science and IT to address global challenges, from climate change and energy transition to managing health crises.

What to expect:

Interesting Talks from Helmholtz Researchers:
• “My Career in Data Science: How I got into Machine Learning for Weather and Climate” by Prof. Dr. Martin Schultz, Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (FZJ)
• “My Career in Data Science: How to Expose Hidden Risks in Medical AI” by Dr. Annika Reinke, German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ)
• Panel Discussion: “From Research to Impact: Data Science Jobs at Helmholtz” with Dr. Annika Reinke (DKFZ – German Cancer Research Center), Dr. Pradeep Ghosh (GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research GmbH) and Alissa Aarts (Forschungszentrum Jülich)

Live Networking Session:
Engage directly with Helmholtz researchers and center representatives during a live networking session and a virtual exhibition — including randomized 1:1 video chats.

Virtual Expo – Meet Experts from Helmholtz Centers and Institutions:
Explore career opportunities and current projects: arrange private meetings with Helmholtz researchers/recruiters or visit the Helmholtz booths.
